PAUSE FOR THE CAUSE: Organic Food at Walmart

Yum

July 31, 2017 By Nicole Nared-Washington 1 Comment

I want to take a break from your normal scheduled food recipes post and talk about something different.

Organic Food at Walmart

Organic Food at Walmart is very affordable and there is something for everybody!

I want to take the time to write about something that has been on my mind for a while now. There is constant banter about the difference between organic and non-organic foods. Is it good for you or healthier is a constant debate that is argued amongst nutritional experts and regular consumers? There are some facts that no one can deny when it comes to assessing the difference between organic and non-organic foods. Such as:

  • Organic Foods are produced with fewer pesticides whereas conventional foods are produced using pesticides, herbicides, and insecticides where a lot of the residue still remains on the produce.
  • Organic food is often fresher because it does not contain preservatives and pesticides that make food last longer.
  • Buying organic foods reduces pollution, reduce soil, and conserve water as it requires less energy.
  • Buying organic foods allows you to contribute to local farmers and growers in your area.

These are just a few known facts when it comes to buying organic foods. With this information, I will leave it to you to join the debate with thousands on if organic is actually better for you.

Another debate is the big cost difference between organic and non-organic, which is something I struggle with myself. For instance, has anyone ever stopped to wonder why organic is much more expensive than regular produce? Think about it, organic produce and goods are produced naturally and not with the assistance of GMO’s, pesticides, and other harsh chemicals that promote growth. If organic produce is grown by simply putting a seed in the grown and allowing it grow naturally, why is that more expensive where as fruits and vegetables that are produce non-organically causes the use of other chemicals and goods that actually cost money to create? It is such a mystery to me and if anyone has the answer or insight to that, I would love for someone to share it with me.

In any case, there is a place where you can go to buy organic food and you don’t have to break your bank account to do it. Walmart! Yep, Walmart! Walmart is definitely making a name for itself making organic food available for its consumers. Walmart is known for its cheaper and more affordable prices against its competition. Well, organic goods are no different. I mean, look at all this stuff I bought that cost less than $40! Like seriously! All of the items in my basic are organic (with the exception of the pineapple and toothpaste). In addition to buying organic fruit and vegetables, baby food, and baby cereal, you also have to make sure you buy Stonyfield yogurt. Duh! For a while, Stonyfield was not available at Walmart (at least the one close to me) but now it is! So if you are an all organic buyer, be sure to check out Walmart for their organic selection and if you are not an organic buyer you can easily become one with the prices that Walmart offers!
