Ingredients

Scale
  • Ingredients for BBQ Sauce
  • 2 ½ c. ketchup
  • 1 c. water
  • ½ c. apple cider vinegar
  • 5 tbsp. brown sugar
  • 5 tbsp. sugar
  • ½ tbsp. black pepper
  • ½ tbsp. onion powder
  • ½ tbsp. garlic powder
  • ½ tbsp. ground mustard
  • ½ tbsp. chili powder
  • 1 tbsp. red crushed pepper flakes
  • 1 tbsp. lemon juice
  • ½ c. Cola soda
  • 1 dash liquid smoke
  • 1 dash Worcestershire sauce
  • 3 gloves garlic, minced
  • 1 shallot, chopped
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • Ingredients for Ribs
  • 2 lbs. beef ribs
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 3 tbsp. olive oil
  • 3 tbsp. butter
  • ½ c. water

Instructions

  1. Directions for BBQ Sauce
  2. In a crock pot, combine all ingredients. Turn the crock pot on high and allow the sauce to sit for, at least, 3 hours. The longer the better and stir frequently.
  3. Directions for Ribs
  4. Season the ribs with salt and pepper on both sides. Take a grill pan or a large sauce pan and drizzle with olive oil. Once the pan is hot, add the ribs and allow searing on each side for 3-5 minutes.
  5. Preheat the oven to 350. Once you have finished searing your ribs, place the ribs in a square pan, add the butter and water, and cover with aluminum foil. Allow to bake for 30 minutes. After the 30 minutes, drain a little of the water and pour with half of the BBQ sauce and place back in the oven for 25-30 minutes. Keep a watchful eye to make sure that sauce doesn’t burn out. You want the ribs to be good and saucy. Reduce the oven temperature to 275 degrees and allow baking for another 10-15 minutes. Add more BBQ sauce to your liking and serve.
