Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 5 eggs
  • 2 c. whole milk
  • 1/4 c. sugar
  • 1 tbsp. Pure Vanilla extract
  • 1/4 tsp. Almond extract
  • 2 tsp. Cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp. Nutmeg
  • 12 oz. Baked croissants

Topping

  • 4 tbsp. Unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 tsp. Almond extract
  • 1/4 tsp. Vanilla extract
  • 2 tbsp. Flour
  • 1/4 tsp. Salt
  • 1/2 c. sliced almonds
  • Garnish: Sliced mixed berries (strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, and blackberries), powdered sugar

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, whole milk, sugar, vanilla extract, almond extract, cinnamon, and nutmeg until well combined.
  3. Cut the baked croissants into bite-sized pieces and place them in the greased baking dish.
  4. Pour the egg mixture over the croissants, ensuring that they are evenly coated. Press down gently to help the croissants absorb the liquid. Let it sit for 15-20 minutes to allow the croissants to soak up the mixture.
  5. In a separate bowl, prepare the topping by creaming together the softened unsalted butter, sugar, egg, almond extract, vanilla extract, flour, and salt. Stir in the sliced almonds.
  6. Spread the topping evenly over the croissant mixture in the baking dish.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the center is set.
  8. Once baked, remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes.
  9. Garnish with sliced mixed berries and a dusting of powdered sugar before serving.
