  • 1 c. all-purpose flour
  • 1 c. cake flour
  • ½ c. sugar
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 tbsp. baking powder
  • ¼ tsp. cinnamon
  • 1 dash nutmeg
  • 2 tbsp. melted butter
  • ½ c. milk
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • Oil for frying
  • Ingredients- Glaze
  • 3 c. powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • Food coloring (optional)


  1. Begin to heat the oil in a deep fryer at 375 degrees.
  2. In a large bowl, sift together flours, sugar, salt, baking powder, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Mix in butter until the dough is crumbly. Add in the beaten egg and milk. Turn on to lightly floured surface and knead lightly. Roll in the dough until it is about ¼ inch thick. Cut the donuts with dooughnut cutter.
  3. Carefully drop the donuts into the oil and fry until lightly golden on both sides. Once finished dip in glaze, if you want, or leave plain!
