Description

The Croque Monsieur is a French Classic ham sandwich that insanely good! In this case I used roasted turkey and add a slice of tomato for an extra kick!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 c. milk
  • 1 tbsp. unsalted butter
  • 1 tbsp. flour
  • 1/8 tsp. nutmeg
  • 1/2 tsp. kosher salt
  • 1/4 c. Gruyere cheese
  • 4 Slice Thick Texas Toast, thawed
  • 12 oz. Roasted Turkey
  • 4 slices of tomato
  • 2 c. Gruyere cheese, coarsely grated
  • 4 eggs, fried

Instructions

  1. In a small sauce pan, pour in the cup of milk and set on low. In a separate small sauce pan, melt the tablespoon of butter on low to medium heat. Once the butter is melted, sprinkle in the flour and whisk. The mixture will appear lumpy.
  2. Slowly pour in the warm milk while whisking at the same time. The mixture will begin to become smooth. Add the Gruyere, nutmeg, and salt and continue whisking until smooth. Set aside.
  3. Set the oven broil on high. Spray a baking sheet with non-stick spray and place 4 pieces of toast on the sheet. Place a slice of tomato on top of the toast, then 3 oz of roasted turkey, place 2 tablespoons of the sauce on top of the turkey, and sprinkle with 1/4 cup of Gruyere cheese.
  4. ROASTING TURKEY: I bought 30 oz. turkey tenderloin, sprinkled with salt and pepper, placed in aluminum foil packet and baked for 30 minutes on 350 degrees. This is a great alternative because you can also keep the turkey for salads, wraps, and pastas. If you decide to do that add 30 additional minutes to cook time if you choose this method.
