Banana Bread is good but it can be full of sugar and a lot of calories. This recipe cuts down on the sugar and fat without missing the flavor.


  • • 2 eggs
  • • 1/2 c. honey (more for drizzle)
  • • 3/4 c. apple sauce
  • • 1 tsp. vanilla extract
  • • 1 1/2 c. whole wheat flour
  • • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • • 3/4 tsp. baking soda
  • • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • • 1/4 tsp. cinnamon
  • • 3 ripe banana
  • • 1 c. walnuts
  • • 1/8 c. bran
  • • 1/8 c. wheat germ


  1. Preheat oven to 350 Degrees
  2. In a large mixing bowl add the eggs, honey, apple sauce, vanilla extract, and stir until all ingredients have been well combined. Add the whole wheat flour, salt, baking soda, baking powder, and salt together and stir until the bread dough has come together. One at a time, beat in the bananas and fold in the walnuts, bran, and wheat germ. Take a well greased or sprayed 9X5 baking loaf pan and pour in the batter; garnish with some sprinkles of wheat germ (optional). Bake in the oven for 40-45 minutes. Allow to cool before serving.
