Description

These Mango Habanero Chicken Wings are sweet and spicy. The sauce is made with mango, habanero peppers, and spices!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 mangoes, chopped
  • ¼ c. onion, chopped
  • 1 tbsp. Olive oil
  • 2 garlic cloves, chopped
  • ¼ c. apple cider vinegar
  • ½ tsp. Salt
  • ½ tsp. Pepper
  • ½ tsp. smoked paprika
  • ¼ tsp. Onion powder
  • ¼ tsp. Garlic powder
  • 1 tbsp. Apricot preserves
  • c. honey
  • 1 lb. Party Chicken Wings
  • 1 c. flour
  • ½ tbsp. Salt
  • ½ tbsp. Seasoned salt
  • 1 tbsp. Pepper
  • ¼ tsp. Smoked paprika

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 425 Degrees. Line a large baking sheet with a cooling rack on top.
  2. Place the chicken wings into a large bowl and season with salt, seasoned salt, pepper, and smoked paprika. Use your hands and toss the wings in the seasonings to make sure it is evenly coated. Pour the flour in a shallow bowl.
  3. Dredge the wings in the flour and shake to remove excess flour. Place on a baking rack on top of the baking sheet. Bake on one side for 15 minutes and flip the wings to baking on the other side for 15 minutes. The wings should be golden and slightly crisp once finished.
  4. Use a small saute pan and place on medium-high heat. Add the olive oil and cook the onions until soft and translucent, about 5-7 minutes. Add the garlic and cook for an additional 2 minutes. Just until fragrant.
  5. To make the sauce, place the chopped mango, cooked onions, garlic, apple cider vinegar, salt, pepper, smoked paprika, onion and garlic powders. Begin to pulse until smooth. Add the habanero pepper and pulse. Taste as you go. Once finished pour in a sauce pot along with the honey, and apricot preserves. Simmer for 30 minutes.
  6. Toss the wings in the sauce and place back on the baking rack and in the oven for an additional 10-12 minutes. Remove and allow to cool slightly and serve.
