Description
A luscious homemade peach bourbon BBQ sauce made with real, ripe peaches and clean ingredients — no corn syrup, no bottle required. Sweet, smoky, and just a little boozy, it’s perfect brushed on air-fried or grilled chicken, ribs, or wings all summer long.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 ripe peaches, peeled, pitted, and chopped
- 1 cup ketchup
- ¼ cup apple cider vinegar
- ⅓ cup packed brown sugar
- ¼ cup bourbon (or whiskey)
- 1 tbsp yellow mustard
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 small yellow onion, diced
- 1 tsp smoked paprika
- 1 tsp chili powder
- 1 tsp kosher salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
- ¼ tsp cayenne pepper (optional)
- 1 tbsp olive oil
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Add onion and cook until softened, about 4-5 minutes. Add garlic and cook 30 seconds more.
- Stir in peaches and cook 3-4 minutes, until softened and juicy.
- Add ketchup, apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, smoked paprika, chili powder, salt, pepper, and cayenne (if using). Stir to combine.
- Carefully add the bourbon. If cooking over gas, pull the pan off heat briefly — it may flame up for a second.
- Simmer uncovered over low heat, stirring occasionally, until thickened and reduced by about a third, roughly 30-40 minutes.
- Blend with an immersion blender until smooth, then strain through a fine mesh sieve for the silkiest texture.
- Cool to room temperature before transferring to a jar. Refrigerate up to 2 weeks or freeze up to 3 months.
Notes
Great on air fryer or grilled chicken, ribs, wings, or pulled pork. For extra smokiness, char the peaches briefly on the grill before adding them to the pot.
