Ingredients

  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 2 tablespoons strawberry preserves or strawberry jam
  • 1 chipotle pepper, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon adobo sauce (from the chipotle pepper can)
  • 1/2 cup diced strawberries
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • 2 teaspoons liquid smoke
  • 2 teaspoons red pepper flakes
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried parsley leaves
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil leaves
  • 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons apple cider vinegar
  • Season with kosher salt and black pepper, to taste

 


Instructions

  1. Combine ketchup, honey, strawberry preserves, chipotle pepper, and adobo sauce in a crockpot on high heat.
  2. Add diced strawberries, minced garlic, liquid smoke, red pepper flakes, garlic powder, parsley, basil, cayenne pepper, and apple cider vinegar. Stir well.
  3. Allow the sauce to cook for at least 2 hours, stirring occasionally, until thickened and flavors are melded.
  4. Adjust seasoning if needed.
  5. Apply to meat or serve as a dipping sauce.
