Ingredients

  • 9 medium Granny Smith Apples, peeled and sliced
  • ¼ c. sugar
  • ¼ c. light brown sugar
  • 1 tsp. Cinnamon
  • 2 tbsp. Corn starch
  • 2 tbsp. Water
  • 1 ½ tbsp. Lemon juice
  • 1 tsp. Vanilla extract
  • 1 c. old fashioned oat
  • 1 c. flour
  • ¾ c. brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp. Sugar
  • ½ tsp. cinnamon
  • ¼ c. pecan pieces
  • Pinch of salt
  • 10 tbsp. Cold unsalted butter, cubed

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 Degrees.
  2. Place your sliced and peeled Granny Smith apples in a large bowl; add both sugars (white and brown), cinnamon, lemon juice, and vanilla extract. In a small bowl, mix together the cornstarch and water and mix until well blended. Pour in with the apple mixture. Toss all of the ingredients together making sure the apples are well coated. Pour the apples into a 9X13 casserole dish.
  3. In a second large bowl, add the oats, flour, brown sugar, sugar, cinnamon, pecan pieces, salt, and butter. Use a fork or pastry cutter to blend in the butter into the mixture. Coarse crumbs will begin to occur. Sprinkle on top of the apple mixture and bake for 30-35 minutes (you will see the apples bubble along the edges. Allow to cool slightly and serve with ice cream.
