  • Total Time: 45 mins
  • Yield: 12 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 loaf crusty Country Bread or desired bread
  • 6 eggs
  • 1/4 c. cream
  • 1/4 c. milk
  • 1 tbsp. vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 tbsp. sugar
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 3 c. cornflakes, finely chopped (I purchased crushed cornflakes)
  • 1/2 tsp. sugar
  • CINNAMON SUGAR MIXTURE
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1 tbsp. cinnamon
  • Vegetable oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Use a serrated knife and slice the bread into desired pieces and set aside.
  2. In a medium sized bowl, whisk together the eggs until the yolk and whites combine. Add the cream, milk, sugar, vanilla, and cinnamon until well combined.
  3. Heat the oil in a deep fryer on 350 Degrees. Place the cornflakes along with the 1/2 tsp. sugar in a separate bowl. Take the pieces of bread and soak in the egg wash for about a minute on each side, coat in the cornflakes, and place in deep fryer and fry for 3-5 minutes on each side or until golden and crusty. Use a slotted spoon to remove from the fryer and shake off excess oil and toss in the cinnamon sugar mixture and turn to a plate lined with paper towel. Serve as is or with syrup.
