So I am not starting off the New Year on a healthy note, huh?
Just kidding. Actually, as I am typing this blog post I am eating an incredibly healthy breakfast hash and fruit that I will be sharing later this week. Anyway, I know that not everyone makes New Year’s resolutions. Heck, not everyone cares to eat healthy. For those of you who is eating business as usual, I am sure this is something that you are loving me for now.
You guys know that I am the Queen of Easy Cooking. I don’t like to make things that are complicated for no reason. Now sure there is nothing wrong with getting in the kitchen and experimenting with different ingredients and exposing yourself to different flavors. However, most of us don’t have the time or patience to make food that takes a lot of time or a lot of ingredients. I totally get that. Please do not think that just because I am a food blogger that I cook everyday or make extravagant dishes all the time. No ma’am and sir. I try to make quick and easy wholesome dishes. You know, food that is practical and sensible in every way and grilled cheese sandwiches are just that in every way.
Here is something that is very interesting to know about me. I actually do not like grilled cheese sandwiches. I know, its crazy and you can’t believe it. I have never been one of those people who was on the bandwagon of grilled cheese and tomato soup. Not me, I guess. Before you start diminishing my credibility as a foodie let me explain. I don’t like grilled cheese sandwiches where there is only bread and cheese. Especially American Classic Singles Cheese. That is crap to me. Also, when I was younger my mom would make grilled cheese sandwiches they would always be a little burnt so I am sure that a little help in me not liking grilled cheese sandwiches. Last year, however, all of that changed. One day my man-made me a grilled cheese sandwich that was so amazing! It was perfectly toasted and the cheese was sharp cheddar. I loved it! What made the difference? It wasn’t burnt, for one, and it had turkey as well. So you see, I do like grilled cheese sandwiches but it has to be with a chose other than American Singles and it has to have meat. See, I told you not to give up on me.
I love grilled breakfast sandwiches. Although they are pretty up there in calories I love them. I especially love when they are sweet and savory. A lot like this sandwich you are gawking at right now. All you need is ham, eggs, cheese, and pre-made French Toast slices such as Aunt Jemima French Toast. What I love about this sandwich is that you really can do whatever you want with it. You can use bacon instead of ham; you can omit the egg, or you can add shredded hash browns. Whatever you want to do will be. This is a quick breakfast sandwich for the morning too. You can make the sandwich like I made my Tailgate Breakfast Sandwiches and wrap them in aluminum foil. In the morning, all you have to do is put them in the oven while you get dressed or whatever it is that you do, serve with fruit, and you got yourself a breakfast. Now you see why I am the “Queen of Easy”!
