You asked for it, so I’m working on it.
It was a scary decision to put together an e-book. Why? BECAUSE OF THE WORK! Man, putting together a book in any form, for print or just an e-book, is a lot of work. Especially when it is a cook. You have to test the recipes, retest the recipes, take photos, and finally there is putting it all together. They may not sound too bad, but it is a lot. I am still in the testing phase of my book as these recipes will be brand new. So far, that is the hardest part. Not only that, it is the most expensive. You see, I am putting together this book on my dime. Therefore, there is no advance money that I can use to but all the ingredients to test these recipes. Sooooo….when I go grocery shopping let me just say it has been difficult to make a decision to buy food for the house or food for my book. Anyway, enough of that. Let’s talk about the book.
I have considered many ideas for my book and it was really important to me to come up with a concept versus a certain way to eat food. Does that make sense? I feel that the world is full of baking, healthy living, gluten-free, and paleo cookbooks now. Therefore, I wanted to create a cookbook that would cater to a certain part of life that happens in our lives. Ideas that I am referring to are: “Slumber Party Recipes, Bridal Shower Appetizer, or Baby Shower Themes and recipes, etc. You get the point. My cookbook, however, is a cookbook for couples! I still have not come up with an official title of the book but that is the general concept. Some of the chapters you can expect are:
Can you dig it? I am very excited about creating this e-book for you guys. I do not have a release date, but I thought it would be fun to post my progress to share so you can get excited and I can stay motivated. When do I think it will be released…hmmm…definitely by the end of the year!
I know some of you may be wondering why am I doing an e-book versus a printed book. Well, I have considered that. The honest answer to that question is because I do not feel that I am ready. I want to create an e-book to test my audience, I guess. It is a bit easy to get started, your own your own rules and timeline, and you have so much freedom in terms of how you spend your time than say someone who is creating a printed book. This may not be true for all cookbook authors, but from what I heard from other food bloggers turned cookbook authors, there is this HUGE amount of pressure when you are working with an editor and publishing company to get your book done. Now, when I am in the place where I am a full time blogger, I will research and find out the best way to put out a printed cookbook. But for now, I think an e-book is a great idea. I am crawling before I am walking. This book is only the beginning. I have so many cookbook ideas and can’t wait to share all of them with you.
