I love a good Lemon Drop Martini.
A good Lemon Drop Martini is just what is needed this upcoming summer!
I love a good cocktail. In fact, I am writing a book called “BABY PROOF: A Collection of Mocktails for the Expecting Mother”, that is full of mocktails. You see, when I was pregnant, Mother Nature decided to pull an evil and torturous trick on me. Mother Nature decided while I was pregnant, that I would crave alcoholic beverages. I know! Isn’t that horrible?! It is true I craved alcohol throughout my entire pregnancy. You name it, beer, wine, Vodka, or nice Frozen Margarita with salt would’ve done the trick. Here is the thing, I’m not even a drinker! I mean, socially I am known to partake in a cocktail beverage or two, but not really. I am not a straight shooter. Meaning, I don’t drink alcohol straight…typically. If I do, I am trying to get drunk. Usually, I like to indulge in an Amaretto Sour, Apple Martini, Vodka with Cranberry, or a Lemon Drop Martini. Man, there is nothing like a good ole Lemon Drop Martini.
I tried to make a Lemon Drop Martini that tasted just like Lemon Head Candy. Sounds good, right? Well, it was an ultimate fail. It just didn’t work out. Instead, I made a different type of Lemon martini that is quite special. To find out, you’re going to have to buy the book when it comes out later this year. Instead, you’re going to have to settle for this Lemon Drop Martini. I think that you will find that it’s not a settlement at all. Using freshly squeezed lemon juice, Limoncello, and some simple syrup is all you need to enjoy this classic cocktail. I know it sounds quite simple, but it’s delicious enough to be served at “For The Love of Cocktails” annual event that takes place in Las Vegas.
Have you ever heard of this even, “For The Love of Cocktails”? If no, don’t worry, neither have I. Let me tell you about it, “For The Love of Cocktails” is fundraiser event that helps to raise money for the Helen Bartender Relief Fund, a charity who honors Port Huron who was a bartender in Michigan who passed away from breast cancer. The fund directly supports bartenders who need assistance with pre-screenings and other utility support. Most importantly, it’s an event where mixologists around the country come together to serve their fabulous signature cocktails and an opportunity for vendors to display new and upcoming liquors and spirits. For a woman who just had a baby and went without an ounce of alcohol for nearly a year, this event sounds like a dream! For more information about “For The Love of Cocktails” feel free to check out the website and enjoy this Lemon Drop Martini while you’re at it.
