Spring has finally sprung! These Orange Marmalade Sweet Rolls are fool-proof!
These Orange Marmalade Sweet Rolls make no sense!
There are certain foods that I only eat depending on the season. For instance, I am more prone to eat BBQ in the summer; I love to drink hot chocolate and cookies in the winter; and I love stews and soups in the fall. Now, I know these food comparisons are obvious but they are true to what our bodies crave during said seasons. Not only do we have cravings for certain foods during certain seasons, but (for me) we crave certain flavors as well. In the summer I love cherries and peaches, but in the spring I love “citrusy” flavored foods. Like these Orange Marmalade Cream Cheese Sweet Rolls.
In my mind there is a vision for how these sweet rolls will be served. I imagine having a nice house with a big and gorgeous backyard. The time is 12pm and the sky is blue, no clouds, and 72 Degrees. I would set vintage picnic tables next to one another making one long table. Then I would place white table cloths on the tables and decorate the tables with gorgeous flowers using tin cans or Mason Jars as vases. There will be large platters of breakfast and brunch dishes around the table. Oh! I would also have a Mimosa bar with fresh fruit juices and champagne. People will be laughing and talking and enjoying amazing food while these Sweet Rolls are front and center. Do you see what food does? It not only nourishes our bodies but creates a setting for food, folks, and fun. Wait, did I just quote the old McDonald’s slogan.

- 1 c. hot water
- 2 tbsp. butter, softened
- 1 egg
- 2 tsp. orange zest
- 4 tbsp. unsalted butter, divided and room temperature
- 1 1/2 c. Orange Marmalade
- 12 oz. cream cheese, softened
- 1/2 c. powdered sugar
- 1 tsp. vanilla extract
- 2 tsp. orange zest
- pinch of salt
Instructions
- In a large bow, combine the flour and yeast in the box into a large bowl. Add the hot water, egg, orange zest, and butter. Knead the ingredients until they form a ball. Cover with plastic wrap and turn to a bowl and set in a warm place [ See instructions on box if you need more instructions] for 30 minutes or longer. Once the dough has risen, divide into two balls and onto a floured surface.
- Preheat to 350 Degrees and spray a 9X13 casserole pan with baking spray.
- Cover one ball of dough with plastic wrap until ready to use. Roll the other ball out into rectangular shape. Spread 2 tablespoon of softened butter evenly on the dough. Next, spread 3/4 cup of orange marmalade on top of the buttered dough. Roll tightly into a log. Using a sharp knife, cut into 1 inch rolls and place into the baking dish. Repeat the same process with the other ball of dough. Cover once again with plastic wrap and set in warm place and let proof for 30 minutes.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes until golden brown. Set aside and allow to cool. In a separate bowl, blend cream cheese until smooth, add powdered sugar, salt, and orange zest. Mix with hand held until smooth. Spread evenly on top of rolls and serve.
