Apple Fritters for breakfast, don’t mind if I do?
Again, I love doughnuts. I’m sure if you have been a faithful blog follower that you can already tell. Doughnuts are the gateway to taste bud heaven, but a death trap to flabby hips hell. As a food blogger, it is hard to resist all the good yummy treats that you create out of sheer enjoyment of spreading your love to others. Nevertheless, with a good work out regime, healthy friends, and a conscious you find a way to resist. Not to mention, I have a wonderful group of co-workers that loves my food and hungry families. Anywho, I made these apple fritters in reminiscent of my child hood.
I am from Dayton, OH, originally, and every now and then my family would get a dozen donuts from this donut shop called Donut Palace. They have the best doughnuts ever. In addition to the traditional glazed doughnuts, doughnut twist, plain doughnut, and jelly filled doughnuts; there would be the occasional apple fritter in that lovely white box. Therefore, I wanted to make them myself. Now the way that I made them is not the way they normally come from a doughnut shop. You know, big. But they are a perfect addition to a Saturday morning.
Apple Fritters

- ¼ c. sugar
- ¾ tsp. salt
- 1 ½ tsp. baking powder
- 1 tbsp. cinnamon
- 1/3 c. milk
- 1 egg

Transfer to a cooling rack before dipping into the glaze.
- Speaking of the glaze, in a medium bowl, combine the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla and whisk until it creates a thick glaze. You can dip the apple fritters or drizzle with the glaze. Place back on the cooling rack and allow cooling.
