I participated in an Influencer Activation on behalf of Influence Central for Cake Boss. I received product samples and a promotional item to thank me for participating.
I’m going to teach you how to have a party like a boss! Cake Boss that is!
First of all let me tell you , that I am not cake decorator. I can make a cake taste amazing, but if you want a cake to look prettier than me, then you might want to hire the professionals or the real Buddy Valastro AKA “Cake Boss”. However, thanks to this opportunity I can honestly say that I have much more confidence in decorating cakes. With Cake Boss’s cake mix, cake decorating accessories, and fondant anyone can make a cake that looks amazing and taste delicious. First and foremost, let me point out my beautiful God-Daughter, Jaylen. In so many ways I feel like I carried her in my belly. Her mom and I have been best friends since high school. Sooo what’s that, nearly 17 years. We share everything together, even her child. Okay, now let’s move on to talking about the FABULOUS party! First off, let me say that it was a mystery how I was going to hold a cake party of 6 people in a two bedroom apartment. Now to some of you, you are probably thinking that should be fine and perfect, right? Well, not so much. I had to completely rearrange my entire living room and set up two large banquet style tables so everyone would have room to work. Well, God must have been with me because everyone was comfortable and there was enough room for everyone to move around. Whew! I was really nervous about that. Next were the cakes. I baked the cakes the night before so they would be nice and cooled the day of decorating so there would be no issues there. I received a box full of “Cake Boss Divine White Cake Mix” that I used to make the cakes. Let me tell you something about this cake mix..it was absolutely divine! The cake mix came with a pouch of custard creme that made the cakes incredibly moist and taste professional. From now on, this will be my go to cake mix from a box. There are also other flavors as well such as
- Va Va Velvet
- Chocolate Trifecta
- Decadent Devil’s Food Cake
- It’s Your Party, Primo Yellow
How about the titles of these cake, huh?!
What I loved about doing this party is how we all really just relaxed and had a good time. Not only that, most of the people who were there never decorated or baked a cake in their lives. So it was awesome to see people really get into it and make the cakes their own. My god-daughter, Jaylen, actually said, “This is the best day of my life”. How cool is that?! To see the joy on her face and how much she got into decorating her cake gave me an idea when I decide to start having kids. I don’t have a daughter but when and if I ever do, I am totally redoing this entire party idea! It really was that much fun and it gave the adults an opportunity to become child-like again. Now let’s talk about the decorating part.
When we started to apply the fondant, we really struggled. We didn’t know how much we should roll it out; We didn’t know that if it sits for a while that it dries out; and most of us had to completely start over to get our fondant to stick. Man it was a journey for real. However, Cake Boss fondant made it easy for us to try it again and again. Also, we had enough cake decorating accessories to cover our blemishes. It worked out…I guess. I don’t think you will see any of these cakes in a bakery, but for us we were pretty darn proud of our cake decorating skills and dares anyone to tell us that we suck.
What made this party a party was the company, the food and drinks, and all of us doing something that we have never done. If you look through my blog, most of the cake you will find are bundt pan cakes. I have always been intimidating and in awe of people who make gorgeous cakes. I am talking about cakes that you see and don’t even want to eat because they are so pretty. Uhh, that isn’t me. I try, but that isn’t my gift. That is why being apart of this promotional opportunity was such a huge thing for me and I am so happy that I got the opportunity to take part.
Of course a party is not a party unless there are things to snack on. I wanted to make the party “cute” so I bought some mini quiches, chicken nuggets, and a veggie tray. For the adults there was Pink Moscato and for Jaylen I had some pink punch. You know, trying to keep the whole “pink” thing going. Also, everyone got a “goodie bag” of Cake Boss stuff. I highly recommend you to have a “Cake Boss Party”! You can do this with kids or you can do this with adults. I suggested to my best friend to consider doing this for my bridal shower. We seriously had a good time! Get creative!
