Yes! I finally have a reason to make these babies!
I don’t know if you know this about me, but one of my most favorite snack in the WORLD are chips and dips. I am telling you it doesn’t matter what it is, I love dipping things and eating them. It is my most favorite thing to do! What I dip and eat comes in phases. So, for a while I was dipping chips and salsa like everyday. I like salsa that isn’t too runny but isn’t too chunky as well. It has to be just right. My favorite type of tortilla chip is the white corn tortilla chip with a hint of lime. Kind of like Chipotle’s! Don’t they have the best chips in the world? However, when I am done riding the tortilla chip and salsa train I quickly jump on the pita chips and hummus caboose. I love me some hummus. My significant other does not. In fact, he thinks it is disgusting. I am laughing now because I am remembering the face he made when he ate some for the first time. Ahhh…that was a classic and memorable moment. It was funny too! What I found that was the most interesting is how he couldn’t love it! I mean who doesn’t love hummus?
I have always wanted to make Homemade Pita Chips. I think they are fabulous, and like hummus, Pita Chips are very versatile. They can be used for dipping, eating alone, or you can use them to replace crostini’s. Another good thing about making your own Homemade Pita Chips, is that you can use whatever seasoning you want that will compliment whatever dip you are using! However, right now in life the most favorite thing I enjoy dipping anything into is “Skinnygirl’s Roasted Red Pepper Hummus”. Three words: A-MAZE-ZING! First let me say that my two most favorite hummus flavors are Roasted Garlic and Roasted Red Pepper. Yum! They are perfect for, not only dipping, but for spreading on a sandwiches, burgers, pasta, casseroles, pizza, and the list goes on! Hummus is like the unsung hero of healthy eating. It comes from ground chick peas for goodness sakes! What isn’t healthy about that? But let’s talk “Skinnygirl” for a minute. I know that on the container it says “Reduced Calories” but I will be the first say “Really?” I honestly can’t tell. I have had my share of hummus and let me tell you, this hummus tastes just like the non-reduced calorie brands. This hummus is made with non-fat Greek yogurt, which explains how the calories are so low but still tasty! So I thought I’d do a little comparison of the nutritional and information facts about Skinnygirl hummus compared to other brands.
