You will love these easy Magnolia Cupcakes with Mascarpone Buttercream Frosting. They are exactly what this world needs right now.
So, I am not one of those people who stays saturated in politics and base everything I feel and do base upon my party. In fact, I don’t really identify myself as a Democrat, Republican, Independent, or Green Tea person. I am “me”! But if I were asked I would say I am an “Independent”. I would be remiss if I were to say that I am unscathed or ignorant by the division that is going on in our world right now. As an African American woman, it is pretty difficult to not feel anything. However, what I always remind myself is to do good while I am here on earth because who I vote for is not going to make or break my way into heaven.
I appreciate the passion that one feels when it comes to politics and things that take place in our country; I appreciate the protests and the fighting that we choose to be a part of that is to create a balance of unity and equity amongst all people; and I even appreciate the radicals on both sides of the spectrum who have no qualms to fight to the bitter end for what they feel is moral and just to stabilize this country. I have no problem with people who stays knee deep in the news stations, podcasts, and talk shows to gain and provide perspective for matters they feel are important in this world. However, I do have a problem when people are nasty, insensitive, and downright deplorable to where there is no heart for humanity left in them. When we were created, the doctor did not ask our parents which party or social organization they wanted us to be apart so they can do something to ensure that we would evolve into that false identity. No! When we were born our parents wanted to make sure we were happy, healthy, and safe and when it came to people, we would treat them as we would want other to treat us. That common principle also is known as the “golden rule” has somehow escaped a lot of people in this world.
I have always said that my faith will never reside in a system as broken as our government. Sure I exercise my civic duty and vote in all elections and remain cognizant of what is taking place in this world. With select few people, I even engage in political conversations where I expel my thoughts and opinions about certain headlines. But one thing is for sure, at the end of those conversations, my point is always the same, we can do so much more with each other as long as there is love. I am not talking about just a deep appreciation, I am talking about a genuine care and concern for your neighbor with a deep love for humanity. That and these Magnolia Cupcakes with Mascarpone Buttercream is the only way this world is going to change. It doesn’t only happen around election time.
My food blog is my contribution to this world to provide a safe space for people to visit. I believe good food and good conversation is the perfect prescription to ugliness and hate. When your mouth is full of something good to eat, what is there to fight about? When you are talking about heated items with the intent of gaining understanding, how can you be mad? That is what I hope I have and will continue to try to create with ‘Brown Sugar’. With the perfect sweet treat, such as these Magnolia Cupcakes, the world will smile, sing, and dance more. There will be rainbows, cute puppies, and smiles on every corner. There will be no point of hate in anyone’s heart because they will be so busy enjoying these cupcakes. So no matter who you voted for or what social causes you feel strongly about, please remember the world is so much bigger than what you think and as you know it. There are men, women, and children from all cultural and ethnic backgrounds that are hurting, starving and dying and you don’t have to be a Republican or Democrat to feel anything about that. Allow yourself to be human and step away from your party lines and just love one another because, in the end, God is not going to care about who you voted for. He is only going to care about your character and the good you did for all people no matter their skin color, sex, or religion.
Enjoy these Magnolia Cupcakes!
