I wonder if H.B. Reese knew what he was doing when he invented the Peanut Butter Cup back in the early 1900’s? When he was selling Peanut Butter Cups to anyone who would buy them, I wonder if he knew that people would take his recipe and concept to create Buckeyes, Peanut Butter Blossoms, Peanut Butter Cake, with Chocolate Frosting and I wonder, if he were able to see into the future, how he would’ve felt about this Peanut Butter and Brownie Mousse Cake Recipe? Would he feel that we’ve disgraced his precious peanut butter cup and have made a mockery out it somehow? Or, would he be over-the-moon with the myriad of variations that people have reinvented his precious Peanut Butter Cup concept to create other delicious recipes and ideas? Well, I hope that he is honored by everything that has been created using his candy in mind because I am sure many of us would agree, we sure appreciate him for allowing his creativity to stretch beyond comprehension to create the infamous Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup.
There are so many candies and amazing flavor combinations that I wish I would’ve come up with because the initial concept either seems so easy, or so I can experience an insane amount of wealth that will set my grandkids, great grandkids, and great-great grandkids up for life. Although I am not completely driven by money, it would be nice to know how it feels to have so much money that you can pay for someone to do dumb things like brush your teeth, fill your ice trays or do all the basic things that every day human beings do on a daily basis. What is that like? What is like to live in the light of a family who is so well known and popular that because of their hard work it has afforded you to have a very comfortable life? I mean do you realize that as long as there is Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups and Reese’s’ Pieces, Reese’s family will be financially okay?! In my opinion, it is simply not possible for that candy to cease to exist because of its deliciousness. I would love to ask this question to the Reese’s, Heinz, Kraft, and whatever other popular families out there so I can be motivated to make a candy that is so delicious that my family will be set for life. I guess until I have those conversations (that will never happen) I need to continue to be creative and fearless in my food experimenting. I think I am on the brink of something crazy good with this Peanut Butter Brownie Mousse Cake recipe.
I am often asked if I sell the food I make on my blog or why I don’t start an online bakery or something like that? In short, I really don’t want to. I don’t say that in a mean or egotistical tone, it is just so much work. I mean first I would have to be able to follow through on orders, meaning I would need to have, at least, a full-size kitchen or a commercial kitchen, and I don’t have either of those; Second, I would need to set up an e-commerce account and manage that and I am still trying to figure out Pinterest; and third, I would need to bake your request to the fullest and get them delivered. Oh and the packaging! Yea, that is more work than I want to do, to be honest. That is why I have a blog! I make recipes that are (I think) easy, affordable, and delicious; I share with you the recipe, and you make it! You see how easy that is?! You don’t have to go through ordering and all of that, you can simply make it in your own home and fall in love with cooking and baking like I have. I know you will fall in love with this Peanut Butter Brownie Mousse Cake recipe!
This Peanut Butter Brownie Mousse Cake recipe has a brownie bottom that was made with a box of brownie mix (yes I use box mixes from time to time); the filling is a peanut butter mousse filled with chopped Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups and toffee pieces; and finally, I topped the cake with whipped cream and chocolate curls. You totally do not have to top off with the chocolate shards, but whipped cream is essential because of the light and airy texture as it goes against the dense brownie and extra creamy peanut butter mousse. I swear this is my “Peanut Butter Cup” and I think Mr. Reese would appreciate this Peanut Butter and Brownie Mousse Cake Recipe as I am sure all of you do!
