I was inspired when I went to Bar Louie a couple of weeks ago with a friend of mine. He was experiencing emotional turmoil; I was experiencing borderline starvation. While I was being the best friend that I am by listening to him explain his situation and providing him honest womanly advice, I was grubbing on the Blue Louie Burger, which consists of blue cheese, spinach, red onion, and buffalo sauce. At first I was skeptical of the buffalo sauce being on the burger. I only thought that should be used with chicken. Nevertheless when I had it I was amazed at how great it was! It could have been the hunger, but I honestly don’t think it was. Thus I was inspired, yet again, to create me own burger using the sauce. My burger consisted of a well seasoned hamburger, caramelized onions, sharp cheddar cheese, lettuce, tomato, bacon, and buffalo sauce. In case you have not already noticed, I love a big fat juicy burger.
Ingredients- Burger
1 lb ground chuck
Salt
Dash of red pepper
Dash of chili powder
Dash of garlic salt
Dash of onion powder
2 dashes of Worcestershire sauce
2 dashes of liquid smoke
2 dash of soy sauce
1 large yellow onion
1 tbsp olive oil
2-3 slices of bacon
Directions
1. Place the beef in a medium bowl and add your seasonings. Use your hands to mix well and make sure that the seasonings are well incorporated. I made two burgers out of the beef but depending on how big or thick you want like them will decide how many you will want to make.
2. Place your burgers in a skillet or grill pan and allow cooking on medium-high heat for 5 minutes on each side or cooked to your preference. It is very important to not use the back of a spatula to press down on the burger. This causes the burger to lose flavor.
3. While your burgers are cooking, begin cutting your onions for them to be sautéed. Once your onions are cut, place them in a small sauce pan with the olive oil on medium heat and begin to allow the onions to cook down. They will become slightly transparent and turn to a light brown color. When the onions have become limp and brown, they are finished and ready to be placed on your burger.
Assembly
– Place the cheese on the bottom of the bun, the burger, buffalo sauce on top of the burger; add the caramelized onions, bacon, lettuce, tomato, and then the top of the bun. Enjoy this fabulous burger with a nice cold beer and some hot fries and you have a good time in front of you my friends.
