Cake Doughnuts…don’t mind if I do!
So, I gave you Homemade Yeast Donuts, croissants, and strawberry buttermilk biscuits. Now I’m giving you cake donuts! I love cake donuts. In fact, I love just about any fried bread dosed in sugar. The authors from Skinny Bitch would call me a moron, idiot, and, perhaps, a bitch for making and loving donuts the way that I do. Not to worry, I don’t eat donuts that often. In fact, I can go months without them. That is until Holtman’s Doughnut shop opened downtown on Vine street. You know, God works in mysterious ways because around the time that shop was built, I moved from downtown. Yes, I can go a while without eating doughnuts but not when they taste like Holtman’s.
But back to the donuts. Yes, I love them! They are wonderful. I don’t know if you know that what cake donuts are but just imagine cake, fried, into a DOUGHNUT (I’m so silly)! When I decided to make them I thought it would a cute idea to stack them to look like a birthday cake and have different color icing on them. However, as you can see in the picture, it didn’t turn out that way. Give them a shot! I’m sure that you will like them.
