Maybe this drink is politically incorrect in the “cocktail world”, but it sure does taste good.
I started off this blog by putting it out there that this may not be a “politically correct” drink because I read a review on my PB Martini and how that really wasn’t a martini at all at it was just a cocktail drink. That’s fine. I am totally okay with creating things and naming it something that may or may not be conducive to the real meaning of the term. Why? Because I either want to, it sounds good to me, or maybe (to me) that is what it is. So call me crazy for calling this drink a cocktail and infusing real fruit juices to give it a little flavor. We can’t stay in the color lines all the time, right?
It is my opinion that champagne is awesome! It is even more of my opinion that it is really awesome when it is infused with fruit juices. Sometimes, let’s be honest, champagne can be dry and boring. Especially to those of us who are considered to not have any real appreciation for the flavor like most wine or cocktail connoisseurs would say. I think if something does not tickle your taste palate, find a way for it to make your taste buds leap for joy! I bought a cheap $6 bottle of Andre Champagne, which was a little bitter and dry, I added 1 tablespoon of simple syrup (equal parts water and sugar), squeezes a lemon wedge, added a few raspberries, and topped it off with my cheap champagne and it was totally awesome!
I stand up for those of us have never had any bartending experience and can care less about the technical terms or proper ways to mix a drink!
I stand up for those who never taste the wood, cherries, or any other berries in red wine and would like nothing more but to add a teaspoon of sugar to a glass of Merlot!
I stand up for those of us who like fruity and sugary cocktails because they are fun and pretty and can careless about the smoothness of a nice bourbon but only care about how fast a drink can make us drunk when we can’t taste the alcohol!
I stand up for all things that are politically incorrect but makes us feel good and adds a bit more color to this black and white world we live in. Heck, my whole damn blog is politically incorrect to the world of gourmet cooking and culinary ability. But you know what, my food makes you want to “slap your momma” and dog-on that is the best politically incorrect statement that one could ever hope to feel and/or do! WHO IS WITH ME?!!!
That was fun. Happy New Year guys.
