So I have something to tell you guys……I’m married!
Okay, let me tell you the story. Last year, my husband and I got married in front of our church congregation with the presence of our parents and our Maid of Honor and Best Man. We decided to keep it mum because we knew we were still going to have a major wedding ceremony this year where we are inviting our closest friends and family. So yea, your favorite blogger has been married for over a year and it is the sexiest thing I have ever done. It is true what they say, “marriage is work”. That is true. Anytime you are trying to establish a relationship and get to know someone in the most intimate of ways it is going to require a certain level of work. It’s good work, but work nevertheless.
I don’t really have much to report about the ‘work’ because it is still in progress but let me tell you that I have never felt more secure, loved, and appreciated in all of my life. Don’t get me wrong, we are not that typical happy-go-lucky newlywed couple who has no worries. Everyday we shred a little bit of our selfishness to become better for each other. I guess that is what I have learned so far in my first year of marriage. Marriage doesn’t work if you are selfish. I mean sometimes you will need to be for yourself but for the most part you are serving one another. To some people this idea seems daunting but if it reciprocated daily, it is actually quite energizing. Yes we disagree and have heated conversations from time to time but we learn from them and walk away understanding a little bit more about one another. Now that I have let the cat out of the bag I will be sharing more about my marriage experiences with all of you. In the meantime, check out our newlywed photos.
