I miss New Orleans!
A lot. I’m talking a whole bunch!
Me missing New Orleans is neither here nor there. Do you want to know why I decided to make this cake? I made this cake because I suck at making layered cakes. Well let me be more specific. I suck at making layered cakes look nice. It is pretty much an all day process. I really like to take my time to make sure they come out looking half way descent. I hit the jack pot with this cake! I think it looks pretty good, don’t you? Well trust me when I say it sure does tastes good. This Pecan Praline Cake is inspired by southern flavors, such as Bourbon and pecans. In the south, Bourbon is used for almost everything. Especially when it comes to desserts. Bourbon enhances the flavor of anything. If you’ve ever taste Bourbon, there is a slight sweetness to it so it only makes sense. I think it deepens the flavor of desserts. Pecans and Bourbon goes very well together, so why not combine them both in a cake?!
I know some people don’t really like nuts in their desserts that much, but if you do, this is the perfect dessert for you. There are pieces of pecans throughout the cake and it is topped with candied pecans. It almost tastes like one big praline. Have you ever had praline? They are so good. Very sweet and rich.
