French Toast Recipe.
I think Puff Pastry is one of the best gifts that has ever been given to cooks across the world. You can use it for anything! You can make cookies out of puff pastry; you can make casseroles out of Puff Pastry; and you can even make cakes out of puff pastry! The best thing about puff pastry is the texture and the buttery flakiness of it all. It is super amazing. I have to thank the Food Network for their previous monthly magazine because they included 50 recipes that uses puff pastry. There are so many options and variations of how you can use puff pastry and it reminded me of those options. One of the most intriguing and easy recipes that I had to try right away was this Puff Pastry French Toast.
Now, if you have followed my blog you already know, I am very particular about my French Toast. I do not like eggy French Toast made with thin slices of bread. Can we say that is a major “no-no” when it comes to cooking. I like thicker French Toast with thick crusty bread with a descent amount of egg wash. Here is another thing about how I like my French Toast, I like when you can taste the vanilla extract and cinnamon without any syrup. When your French Toast doesn’t need anything, including syrup, that is the sign of a good bite of French Toast. A bite of French Toast that is not good is when you bite into the bread and it taste like an omelet that has been seared into a piece of bread. You know what I’m talking about. I know I am not the only person who has had that awful experience. However, with this recipe, you won’t have that experience. You will bite into this puffy and airy French Toast and you are in heaven without feeling heavy. In fact, after you eat one of these Puff Pastry French Toast squares you will be a tad disappointed that the experience is over, but the sadness quickly leaves when you have another bite of that French Toast.
Here is an idea/suggestion if you decide to make these Puff Pastry French Toast squares, you can make these for a brunch party, breakfast in bed, or something quick for your kids to have in the morning for breakfast. It only takes 20 minutes to make this fabulous French Toast Puff Pastry. Thank you Food Network for this easy and “stupid-good” idea!
