This Dark Chocolate Cake Recipe makes me love dark chocolate.
Divine Chocolate is responsible for this gorgeous Dark Chocolate Cake Recipe.
I do not like dark chocolate. There I said it. It is disgusting to me and I don’t see how people actually enjoy dark chocolate. I am not talking about Dove Dark Chocolate; I am talking 85% Cacao or higher dark chocolate. It is extremely bitter and has no sweetness. If you like red wine, I bet you like dark chocolate. It seems as though it would pair very well together. Well thanks to Divine Chocolate I have been given a whole new outlook on chocolate and dark chocolate especially.
Have you ever heard of Divine Chocolate? No? Well let me give you a little information about this brand of chocolate and why you should support their cause.
Divine was created by the Kuapa Kokoo Farmers co-operative in Ghana. This initiative was created so the farmers could launch its own farmer owned Fairtrade chocolate company. The cocoa that is used to make their delicious chocolate is hand harvested, shade room, and slowly fermented all of which gives the chocolate its rich chocolate taste. The best part of this initiative is that when someone purchases Divine Chocolate it guarantees income and opportunities for coco farming families. So buying chocolate is a charitable contribution. Yes, I must buy more chocolate if I am going to help save the world. Who’s with me?!
I bought 4 bars of Dark Chocolate determined to make something great out of it. What better way to take chocolate and put it in a cake?! I made a Dark Chocolate Cake with chocolate from Divine and yogurt from Stonyfield! Oh yea, I like to add yogurt to all my cakes for extra moistness. If you have not done that, you really need to try it sometime. Let me tell you about this Dark Chocolate Cake Recipe, it is the bomb. To be honest, I am not a huge fan of chocolate cake. I don’t know what it is but they are not very moist. They are typically dry and dull. The best part of any chocolate cake for me is the icing and I am not a huge icing person, so that should tell you something. This cake is really delicious. The key is that I didn’t bake it that long. I put the cake on the top rack in my oven and baked it for 20-25 minutes. I mean as soon as that knife came out clean, I took it out. With any cake, if you bake it for too long it can become a bit dry. So make sure when you are baking this cake that you check the cake at 20 minutes and every 2 minutes after that to make sure that you are getting it out of the oven at the right time.
