Finding a balance between staying healthy, being a working mom, and a blogger is not easy. Luckily, Blue Diamond Whole Natural Almonds is a great healthy snack option that you can have on the go or add to some of your favorite dishes and treats.
Let’s read this blog post as a counseling session, okay?
For many of you who follow my blog or social media platforms, you’ve probably noticed that my recipes have been a bit sparse this year. I actually have a pretty good explanation for that. This year, I was promoted to Assistant Director of Marketing! Isn’t that great? Well, the caveat to that advancement is that I had to, not only do the job I was promoted to but the job I was promoted from. I had to do this for about 6 months. Basically, I was doing two jobs at once. If you know anything about marketing, it is not a robotic position. You have to use your critical thinking skills, strategic planning, and a bunch of other competencies that I won’t get into. So with that, my brain is done before my workday ends. There goes my energy to create amazing dishes.
My son, my son, my son. He is lovely. He is amazing, but he is full of energy. He is full of so much energy I can’t keep up with him. My son takes up a large part of my life. If I am not at work or sleeping, I am somewhere with my son making sure he doesn’t kill himself. My son is a toddler and that is not my favorite stage of child development (I am more of a baby lover). So he is working me over double-time. In fact, as I am typing this blog post, he is hanging off of the right arm, snuggling close to me begging for my attention.
I should also point out, these roles aren’t ranked in any particular order. Being a wife can be hard in and of itself because you are growing, learning, and adapting to each other constantly. As tired as I am from work and the kid, I have to make time for my husband and make sure that he feels important and wanted as well.
It has been almost three years since I had my baby and I still have the baby weight and then some. It is incredibly hard for me to find a workout regimen that I can keep up with. Working out from home is a complete joke because my kid is always in close proximity and thinks mommy wants him to jump on her belly when she is doing a sit up or always want me to pick him up when I do my jumping jacks. I have started getting in the habit of working out at work because that is really the only time I can get anything done most days.
Eating healthy can be a challenge because I am so busy. I eat what is in front of me that is easy and I can take on the go. I have definitely taken advantage of the free donuts and bagels at work one too many times. I am always involved in meetings where there is some sort of lunch provided and they’re typically not healthy. I work for a Division I university so you can imagine what that life is like on the food front. There is FOOD EVERYWHERE! Right outside of my office is a cafeteria that has endless pastry options, chips, and everything else. It’s hard out here for a mom! But I have to use self-discipline and think of what I can do for myself to add some healthy options in my diet. Thank God I like almonds, and thank goodness for Blue Diamond Whole Natural Almonds!
