NA-NANY-BOO-BOO!! I MADE PANNA COTTA!!
I’ve never made Panna Cotta but this is divine!
Is it that serious? Probably not. Nevertheless, I am super excited about this. I have wanted to make Panna Cotta for months and now that I am getting settled in the new job, I am starting to find my groove back in the kitchen. Surprisingly, Panna Cotta is super easy to make. I don’t know why it took me so long to make this dish. I think it’s because the name sounds super fancy and I got intimidated. Are you intimidated by Panna Cotta? Let me tell you…don’t be! This thing is basically warming up milk, adding gelatin and flavor, and sticking it into the refrigerator. That’s it! The name just eludes to making it seem more complicated than it really is. I mean, look at the picture. Does this recipe seem that complicated? Good, because it isn’t.
Here is what I struggled with when it came to this recipe…the flavor. You see all types of different flavorings paired with Panna Cotta. I didn’t want to get to crazy because I wanted the Panna Cotta to shine. At the same time, I wanted to pair it with something that would work together and compliment the Panna Cotta. SIDE NOTE: The first time I ever saw Panna Cotta was watching an episode of Barefoot Contessa and I was watching Ina Garten making this dessert. She poured some sort of berry sauce over the Panna Cotta and it really didn’t look that pretty to me and I was just thinking, “What the heck is that and why would anyone want to eat it”? It’s crazy now that I am making it because I definitely get the hype. Anyway, back to my recipe. Yes. I thought strawberries and kiwi would be perfect because its summer, refreshing, and just tastes good.
When you eat this dessert let me tell you what you can expect. You can expect for the Panna Cotta to be smooth and velvety with vibrant and soft notes of vanilla ( I sound like I should be on a cooking channel, huh?). However, the first thing you will taste are the strawberries and kiwi and then the Panna Cotta comes right behind it and smooth everything out and the vanilla hits your palette just to give your mind and taste buds something extra to think about. This is a perfect summer dessert and I have done a lot of those lately. I mean you have to admit, your girl has hooked you guys up with some awesome summer desserts, right? Well this is no exception. This dessert is cool, delicious, and definitely sexy. Enjoy!Print
