This Caramel Apple Charcuterie Board is perfect for fall festivities. This concept can be customized with your choice of snacks, some delicious sliced apples, and whatever you like to dip your apples into. This is perfect for large parties or something fun for the family.
When I was younger, I absolutely loved Caramel and Candy Apples. When I would see them in the grocery store, that was my indicator that let me know that fall was just around the corner. I’ve loved fall since I was a little girl. The problem with eating Caramel and Candy Apples for me was they were hard to bite into. When I did bite into them they made my teeth hurt pretty bad. So, I stopped eating them for years.
Now that I am all big and grown up with little people of my own, I definitely want them to enjoy Caramel and Candy Apples, but I’ve figured out a better and easier way for them to enjoy them.

Why not cut slices of apples and just dip them in caramel?
More than that, why not create a fun Caramel Apple (Fall) Charcuterie Board filled with some of their favorite fall snacks?!
BOOM! Charcuterie boards seem to be the “thing” right now so it makes sense to me. First, let’s tackle the main star of the caramel apple board…the apples.
Apples to use for the caramel apple board
There are several apples you can use for this board. I will honestly say, the apples you choose to use are completely up to you! You may want to use a specific apple in your region that is near and dear to your heart or you may want to take a classic approach and stick with the famous Washington and/or Granny Smith apple. The possibilities are endless. In my case, I recommend the following:
- Honeycrisp Apples: These apples are perfect for a fall charcuterie board idea like this one. They are firm, crisp, juicy, and incredibly sweet. By themselves, these apples taste amazing.
- Granny Smith Apples: Granny Smith apples are great to add to create some contrast between the apples you’re offering. They are sweet and tart and a great way to mix things up on your board to give your guest some variety.
- Gala Apples: Gala apples are a close second to the Honeycrisp apple. Although they are a bit smaller so you may need a few more for serving, these apples are also firm, sweet, and perfect for dipping.
These are the three apples I’ve used when making this candy apple bar type board for the family.
Now that we’ve discussed the types of apples to use, let’s talk about some of the topping and other additions you can add to your caramel apple board.

Toppings
This is where you can get as creative as you want. For my boards, here is what I’ve used:
- Caramel Popcorn
- Pretzel Sticks
- Cubed Cheese
- Caramel Dip
- Mini Chocolate Chips
- M&M’s
- Crackers
- Peanut Topping
- Chocolate Covered Pretzels
- Toffee Pieces
Now if I was listening to my husband I would’ve added some treats to make the board seem a bit more “fall” such as:
- Candy Corn
- Reese’s Pieces
- Fall Sprinkles
- Peanut Butter
- Dipping Sticks
Again, the possibilities are endless. You can add whatever you want to the board. In fact, when I have my “Family Fall Day” I will be remaking this but making it bigger with many of my husband’s suggestions. My favorite part of the whole snack board was the Caramel Popcorn. I simply purchased a box of Crunch-n-Much (guilty pleasure) and laid it out. But, if you are feeling ambitious, you can make your own Caramel Popcorn or Butter Toffee Popcorn.
Overall, if you have young kids as I do, I would consider making this caramel apple toppings bar that can be customized to your kids’ liking. You can make this a bit grown up as well by adding more adult-like snacks like my Bourbon Pumpkin Candied Almonds, chocolate-covered espresso beans, or turtles!
